Ordinary Jack

What you are going to be, Uncle Parker told him, as they entered the field that was the home straight to The Knoll, is a prophet. Jack, the ordinary child in a family of proud geniuses, desperate to be recognised as an equal, goes along with Uncle Parker's mad plan to pass himself off as a real phenomenon.

The characters come vividly alive, driving the storyline. The plot is deeply involved, yet easy enough to follow. The prose is crisp and colorful and draws the reader into the story.

Our old copy of this classic has been read so many times, we had to have it rebound. Back in print after more than a decade of unavailability, Ordinary Jack is one you won't want to miss.

If you've read this one, please share your thoughts. Did you enjoy it? Is it well-written? Is the subject matter interesting? Does the writing style have particular strengths (or weaknesses)?

This has been one of my favorite books ever since I discovered it. Simply put, it is fantastically good. If you have not read Ordinary Jack, you owe it to yourself to do so.
